Motivate Others

When your motivation is running low, try motivating someone else. By being someone else’s cheerleader, you renew your own inspiration and motivation spikes. By seeing someone else struggle and helping them, you begin to see yourself in a new light.

Schedule Inspirational Activities

Entrepreneur explains that in today’s age, we are all surrounded by inspirational material to keep your motivation primed, so make use of all of it. Whether it’s TED Talks, your favorite podcast, motivational YouTube channels, articles or books, seek them out and build them into your weekly life. Perhaps you draw inspiration from yoga. Schedule two classes a week. This way, if your motivation is tanking, you have a built in solution.

Schedule Downtime for Yourself

In order to stay motivated, you need to allow yourself time to restore. Schedule downtime into your week, whatever it may be. Perhaps a half an hour of meditation every Sunday or two hours dedicated to reading a book for pleasure works best for you. Plan it into your schedule and sit down and do it. Taking some restorative time out from your busy life will only serve to keep you motivated in the long run.

Surround Yourself with a Tribe of Motivated People

The people you surround yourself with have a direct effect on your motivation and success. Entrepreneur writes that if you spend time around people who are positive, relentless and solution-oriented, chances are you’ll not only be pushed to be your best self, but you’ll benefit from great mentorship. On the flip side, if you choose to spend time with naysayers and complainers, you’re being drained of precious time and emotional energy. Be extremely selective with who you surround yourself with.

Share your Goals and Progress

It does not matter who you choose to share your goals with. It can be your closest friends or an online community. By simply announcing your goals and intentions, you set yourself up for accountability. That accountability will come in handy when you are running low on motivation and need someone to support you.

When you are lacking motivation, keep these motivation hacks in mind. Motivate those around you, participate in an inspirational activity and keep yourself surrounded by motivated people. We all face lapses in our motivation but it’s important to know how to bounce back!
